Barcelona will have the first United Nations University Institute in southern Europe Barcelona will have the first United Nations University (UNU) Institute in southern Europe and the Mediterranean and it will open in 2012 at the Modernista-style Hospital de Sant Pau. The Institute is dedicated to the Alliance of Civilisations, an idea which came from Spanish PM José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero and which received backing from the United Nations.
2. Tutankhamen comes to the Drassanes Reials Barcelona's Drassanes Reials, the medieval shipyards, will be hosting, from 6 June to 6 September, the exhibition "Tutankhamen: La tomba i els seus tresors" (Tutankhamon: his tomb and its treasures), a spectacular exhibition where visitors can emulate Howard Carter and take a close-up look at the tomb of the most famous pharaoh in history.

A total of 19 airlines have opened the new Barcelona Airport Terminal, T1 On Wednesday, 17 June, T1, the new terminal at El Prat de Llobregat airport, the new building aimed at consolidating Barcelona as the benchmark airport in southern Europe and the Mediterranean area, came into operation. This has marked the start of a new stage in the life of the airport, bringing various changes with it. On the one hand, it will switch to two terminals, the new T1 and T2, which will include the old A, B and C terminals. HOT DEALS! 1. Discover Barcelona at night! The queen of pop MADONNA will play at the Estadio Olimpico The queen of pop will play at the Estadio Olimpico (Montjuic) - on July 21st in support of her latest album Hard Candy, which was released last year and has spawned the singles Miles Away, Give It 2 Me and 4 Minutes, the latter of which features Justin Timberlake.
