1. Sagrada Familia in gold
On March 8 the Royal Spanish Mint released for sale the seventh series of collector coins in the Europa Program. Under the theme, “European Heritage,” the two-coin issue is dedicated to Antoni Gaudí. The issue consists of a .999 gold 4-escudos coin that caries a face value of 200 euros and a .925 silver 8-reales coin that has a face value of 10 euros. The obverse portrays the likeness of H.M. King Juan Carlos I. The reverse features Gaudí’s Sagrada Familia temple in Barcelona. To the left is a depiction of Gaudí in an oval with “Antoni Gaudí” underneath.

2. Barcelona to hold the 2012 World Junior Athletics Championships
The championships have been held biennially since 1986 and will feature athletes under 20 years old in two years' time. Barcelona's Mayor, Jordi Hereu, announced that "thanks to this new nomination, Barcelona is continuing to consolidate its status as an international sports event capital, showing once again its organisational capacities and the popular enthusiasm such events arouse".

3. Barcelona is remodelling seven markets
The city is investing a record 23.9 million euros into the remodelling of seven municipal markets. Work is starting this year at the Sant Antoni, Ninot, Sants, Encants-Fira de Bellcaire and Guinardó markets, while plans will be drawn up for Provençals and Guineueta.

4. Barcelona’s Sagrada Familia for the consecration of the church by the Pope 7th November 2010
Rigol considered the Pope's visit "to the temple of the Holy Family will be a focus for the in the world media, putting Barcelona and the temple in the universal map of the church."

1. World's best tennis in Barcelona
From 18 to 25 April, the Barcelona Open Banco Sabadell tournament will be bringing the city five of the world's top ten players, the most notable being Rafael Nadal and Juan Martín del Potro. Their aim: to become the champions of the 58th Comte de Godó Trophy, part of the ATP World Tour 500 since last year, just after the Grand Slam tournaments.

2. The 28th edition of the International Barcelona Comic Fair 2010, 6 to 9 May
In the section for authors, will be Jacques Tardi, a major European benchmark, Gilbert Shelton, co-creator of underground comic, Tanino Liberatore, RanXerox man behind the character, or the Scottish artist Jock, known for his work in "The Losers". Already established as one of the most important world events of the sector, the event, which will occupy about 18,000 square meters of the Fair of Barcelona.

3. New exhibition on display in the Barcelona Museum of Archaeology
The results of this investigation is displayed in the headquarters of the Barcelona Museum of Archaeology of Catalonia in an exhibition that is open to the public until September 5.
