NEWS & WHAT'S ON?
1. Barcelona's coast, free of waste
This is a City Council beach-and-sea cleaning service which travels along the seven Barcelona beaches, every day from 7 am to 3 pm, to rid them of any solid, floating waste that may have accumulated there.
It's 11 am and a ship called Pelicà travels along Barcelona's coast, accompanied by two smaller sized ships that are collectively known as Les Marnettes. The float must keep the beaches and their bathers free from the waste that accumulates there.

2. Plug into Barcelona!
A new step forward in Barcelona transport. Barcelona City Council, the Regional Government of Catalonia, SEAT and Endesa have created the Live Barcelona platform, which will pave the way for the launching of electric-powered vehicles in the Metropolitan Area.
Electric-powered vehicles are now a reality in Barcelona. A pioneer in deploying recharging points, the city is also opening a Punt Live citizen advice point, to process electric-powered vehicle cards.

3. The Santa Monica de Barcelona Arts Centre...
Invites you to see food through the eyes of a scientist.
During the presentation of this initiative, Josep Perelló argued that the kitchen as a laboratory space is always, "located in all the houses and where matter is transformed."
The second floor of the Arts Centre, Santa Mònica de Barcelona has become from today until next November, a culinary laboratory, thanks to the exhibition "Condensed Matter.

2. Barcelona Music Conference 2010
The best DJs in dance from Europe, such as Armin Van Buuren, Paul Van Dyck and Groove Armada, will be at the first edition of the Barcelona Music Conference (BMC), to be held on 6 and 7 August, an event that over 40,000 people are expected to enjoy.

3. Cirque du Soleil will return to Barcelona
The Canadian company Cirque du Soleil will return to Barcelona from November 5 until December 5 2010 with their show "Varekai," a fusion of drama and acrobatics.
