NEWS & WHAT´S ON?
1. Barcelona Beaches in 3rd place among World Top 10
According to Reuters, Barcelona Beaches are in the 3rd position among the Top 10 World
beaches.
"A heady mix of architecture, shopping and nightlife, Barcelona sits on the edge of the Mediterranean and
boasts over 2.5 miles (4 km) of stunning white-sand beaches.
Best beach: The city's signature strip of sand has to be Barceloneta Beach that attracts up to 7 million
people a year."
2. Beach Libraries
In July and August, two beach libraries will be lending books.
The service, which operates from 11am to 7pm, every day, is available at two points.
One is the Beach Centre, which you can find on Barceloneta beach.
The other Beach Centre is on the Bac de Roda breakwater, on Nova Mar Bella beach.
You can find novels and comics for adults and children, story books, daily newspapers
and specialist magazines. These are available in Catalan, Spanish, English, French, Italian and German.

3. New Hall of Mirrors at Tibidabo
New technologies at the Tibidabo Amusement Park.
The new Mirror Hall, MiraMiralls, is located near the main entrance.
With new technologies, MiraMiralls leads you through several interesting scenes.
MiraMiralls uses new systems such as laser beams, periscopes and kaleidoscopes creating a world of magic.
The last hall in the labyrinth of mirrors is what we know, deforming shapes of all those who look,
but with some added surprises.

4. Common grave found in Lesseps
Work on redesigning the Lesseps square has unearthed a common grave, probably dating from the 17th
century, on Septimània street.
Initial analysis suggests it contains victims of a 17th century epidemic. The corpses, all men of
different ages, were buried hurriedly under layers of lime, a material used to avoid the spread of
disease at the time of an epidemic.
The archaeologists are working on the theory that the bodies were probably buried as a result of the
plague.
5. Transport:
a)Changes at Plaça Molina and Sant Gervasi stations
Due to building work on a joint ticket hall, access to both stations will be altered during the
summer.
The most important change is that trains heading towards Plaça de Catalunya will not stop at Plaça
Molina between 21 July and 7 September.
b)Metro L5, section Sagrada Familia-Hospital Clinic, out of service from 1 to 10 August 2008.
This is due to the work being carried out on the Diagonal interchange. A special Bus operating to the same timetable
as the underground will cover the inoperative section.
