Costa Dorada Spain Beaches

Castelldefels

A nice example of the fantastic Spain Beaches at a short distance from Barcelona. This city is located to the South of Barcelona, to less than half an hour by train, car or bus. It has a number of nice long and wide beaches which extend for almost five Kilometers of fine golden sand. Like Barcelona, Castelldefels has a typical Mediterranean climate with a healthy average temperature and the almost lack of rains, that guarantee the sunshine for more than ten months during the year.





The city name is derived from Latin Castrum Felix. During the 1950 decade, this area became the holiday place for the people of Barcelona.

Besides the beach, you can visit the castle of the tenth century, the free ride Kastefa and the Olympic channel which was built for the Olympics of 1992.

During 2007 the beach of Castelldefels became the first beach of all Spanish Beaches with WiFi Internet access, counting now with five free hot spots.

This beach offers facilities for handicapped, restaurants, bars, toilets, sport areas, showers, childrenīs games, library on the beach, tourist train, Red Cross services and daily cleaning services. Some activities that You can enjoy and practice are beach sports, jet skiing, windsurfing and sailing.

Sitges

The City of Sitges, a former fishing village, now well known among gays, is located at a few Kilometers from Barcelona, as part of the Costa Dorada Spain Beaches. As you can imagine, there are also a couple of nudist beaches.

Sitges was a medieval fortress situated to the South of Barcelona, now to half an hour by train or car. With a typical Mediterranean climate, a good average temperature and the guarantee of sunshine for more than ten months in a year.

Sitges has seventeen beaches, eleven of them being urban beaches and one special for gays as the Playa del Muerto.

This area also became a holiday place for the people of Barcelona, besides as being a special place for artists like Rusiņol, Miro, Picasso and Dali. The Modernism also influenced Sitges, making the city a special resort for art and culture.

Tarragona

The city of Tarragona has an important Roman heritage. There are many important ancient remains from the Roman time that you can see, such as the Wall surrounding the old city, the Aqueduct, the Forum and the Amphitheater, among others. They were declared World Heritage by the UNESCO in the year 2000.

The name of the city is derived from The Latin word Tarraco, from the Roman era.

You will live the Roman ruins of Tarraco, the Museum of Archeology and the gates in the Wall surrounding the old city, as being part of you. It is simply a fantastic experience!

Tarragona is the main city of the Costa Dorada Spain Beaches, having fifteen Kilometers of multiple long, wide beaches with fine golden sand. There are also some beautiful little coves with crystalline water. A very nice Mediterranean climate helps you for the practice of a number of water sports like beach sports, jet skiing, windsurfing, diving and sailing, among others.
