When evaluating Pablo Picasso artworks, there are a few periods that are widely recognized by the art world. However, some of the later stages of his work are debated.

The earlier ones stand as:

  • Blue Period (1901–1904)
  • The Rose Period (1905–1907)
  • The African-influenced Period (1908–1909)
  • Analytic Cubism (1909–1912)
  • Synthetic Cubism (1912–1919)

Widely recognized works of Pablo Picasso Cubism include Three Musicians and, of course, Guernica, which is his great representation of the bombing of Guernica that took place during the Spanish Civil War.

It is interesting to note that Guernica was displayed at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City for many years. However, in the early 80's it was returned to Spain and is now displayed with other paintings in Madrid.

Experts estimate that Picasso produced more than 50,000 works through his lifetime. This amazingly large quantity includes 1885 paintings, almost 3000 ceramic works, about 12000 drawings. Of course, there were also many tapestries, rugs, and thousands of prints.
